Illinois Medicaid policy now recognizes evidence-based remote maternity care. See what changed
Babyscripts × iMSO

A practical response to a growing maternity care crisis.

As hospitals close labor and delivery units and Medicaid pressures intensify, Babyscripts and iMSO help states, health plans, and providers build more sustainable maternity care models—expanding access, identifying risk earlier, and connecting patients to care throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

What each partner brings

Sustainable access takes more than another technology or program.

Babyscripts brings the provider-connected maternity platform and clinical care model. iMSO brings the payer, provider, and value-based-care expertise to operationalize innovation across clinical, financial, and public-sector stakeholders. Together, we close the gap between promising tools and care delivery that can last.

Why Illinois matters now

A policy opening meets an urgent access challenge.

Hospitals in and around Chicago have announced closures or reductions in maternity services. Illinois has also created a clearer path for evidence-based remote maternity and postpartum support within its medical assistance program. The opportunity now is to turn policy into practical, sustainable access.

Effective June 16, 2026

Illinois Public Aid Code: 305 ILCS 5/5-54

The law requires coverage and reimbursement for qualifying remote patient management services—including telecare management and remote physiologic monitoring—that address maternity and postpartum care-access challenges through individualized care delivered by licensed providers.

1Coverage creates an opening.
Remote maternity services have a clearer reimbursement pathway.
2Evidence still matters.
The statute limits coverage to services with evidence of improved patient care.
3Execution determines impact.
Plans and providers still need workflows, monitoring, response, and accountable operating partners.

From policy to practice

One coordinated model. Four jobs to be done.

The partnership connects the patient experience, clinical response, program operations, and stakeholder alignment—so states, plans, and providers do not have to assemble the model alone.

Connect

Engage patients with trusted education, assessments, reminders, and remote monitoring across pregnancy and postpartum.

See risk sooner

Bring patient-reported and physiologic data into risk-appropriate workflows while keeping the licensed care team in control.

Respond

Support follow-through with care management, defined protocols, escalation, and connection to the right clinical or community resources.

Scale

Align payer, provider, operational, and financial stakeholders around an implementation model designed to last.

Clinical direction

Care guidance is moving from one schedule to each patient’s needs.

ACOG’s 2025 Clinical Consensus supports comprehensive prenatal needs assessment, shared decision-making, tailored visit and monitoring schedules, and telemedicine or other modalities when they support guideline-based care.

That direction creates a stronger clinical context for connected tools—but it also raises the bar for thoughtful implementation.

Built for the market

A shared model for the stakeholders who must sustain access.

Health plans

Turn maternal-health benefits, policy requirements, and value-based priorities into a member-facing program with provider-connected insight and clear operations.

Health systems & providers

Extend support between visits, focus attention where it is needed, and sustain access as traditional maternity-service capacity shrinks.

Medicaid & public leaders

Bring public policy and private-sector capability together around evidence, licensed-provider delivery, and measurable implementation.
